remote desktop

I'm currently running XP Pro but my father inLaw is using 2000 Pro. He is
not computer literate so I need some remote desktop software that is easy to
use, withou upgrading him to XP home what options do I have? Since he's
using DSL both him and I will have changing IP addresses.

Remote Desktop (host) is not available on XP Home. You can only connect
"from" a XP Home to a XP Pro Remote Desktop "host".

Look at UltraVNC software package. This is a "free" remote access software
where both the "remote PC" and your "local PC" will display the exact same
"screen" at the same time.

Look at signing up for a "free" dynamic DNS entry at one of the several
Dynamic DNS services.

Example: Sign up with DynDNS.org so that you can always find your Dad's PC by
name instead of by IP address (with www.whatismyip.com )

Point the remote access software to "mydadspc.dyndns.org" instead of
xxx.yyy.zzz.aaa.
