Is the user you are trying to connect with a member of the Remote Desktop
Users group (or administrators) and do they have a password set?

What OS, BTW?
(Windows XP Professional, x64, Tablet, Media Center?)

How To Ask Questions The Smart Way

I have the same problem. I'm trying to connect to my home computer to help my family while I'm at school. When I try to connect all it says is unable to connect because of an account restriction. What do I need to do?

In the future - start your own post.
Easier to follow. Better chance of getting seen/people involved.

Also - if you *are* going to hijack someone's post - it's best to answer the
questions you know you are going to be asked since they were asked in the
previous response to the post you hijacked. ;-)

Are you trying to use "Remote Assistance" and not "Remote Desktop"?
(I ask because of, "... to help my family while I'm at school ...")

Sorry about that. I'm very new at this. They are an administrator and they
do have a password set. I unfortunately have Vista, and they have XP. I am
using remote assistant. Thanks for being so patient and helping me out.
