Is there a way to use RDC over the internet? The host has a public IP
address and the remote is behind a router. Is there a better option?

Thanks,
J.

You need to create a rule in your router that forwards port 3389 packets to
the internal IP address of your PC.

I thought that was only required on the router connected to the host (this
computer is directly connected). Do I have to forward ports on the client
(remote) router also?

Jason-
This little program (less than 1mb) just came out this week & became their "pick" on
MajorGeeks the very same day:

I've been playing around with it & it's really easy to use & will even allow you to
transfer files.
After you set it up on your end, you can right click the tray icon & send an email,
to your friends, with instructions, that already contains the link for them to access,
with your user name (specialist ID) to enter, to get help from you.

Note: It defaults to viewing their desktop in 256 colors & you have to manually
change it each session, to full color,if you want things to look more like their
actual desktop.

No, port forwarding is required on the host end only. The RDP host must, of
course, have a fixed internal IP address. You must also ensure that port
3389 packets do not get blocked by some firewall.

So even though I'm conencted by USB vodem I still need to connect the LAN
cable to hub/switch? I take it this is what you mean by internal IP address.
As stated there is an IP address associated with vodem connection.

It might be a good idea if you explained exactly how your intended RDP host
computer connects to the Internet.

Care to be a little more specific? And did you mean "USB modem"? Dial-up?
ADSL? Cable?

It's Hauwei E220 modem (take off odafone and add odem or take off afone and
add em) 3G.
