Remote Desktop on W2K Advanced Server Question.

Bonnie

Hi,

We have a VPN server being hosted on a W2K Advanced
Server. On my XP desktop I used to be able to use remote
desktop to logon to the VPN server and perform admin
duties without walking into the server room. I cant for
the life of me figure out how to check or to install
remote desktop on the W2K server so I can remotely logon
again from my desk.

Thanks.

There's no remote desktop in Windows 2000. You can achieve remote
connecting through third party programs like VNC ( www.realvnc.com ) or by
installing Terminal Services on the 2000 AS computer - note, for the latter
you will need TS CALs

actually if it is only for administrative purposes, W2K
Server allows 2 TS connections. Just set up TS in admin
mode instead of application mode.

Ah thank you for clarifying that, I was wondering about that one myself
(still haven't had a chance to make 2000 a TS in admin mode)
