Remote Desktop log in problem - don't understand what to log in

I have never used the Remote Desktop and would like to do so, but I can't
figure out how to log in. I have the connection box open and the correct
computer name. Do I use the same password as my administrator pw on the
computer I want to connect to? Also, what is "domain"? And what is my "user
name" - my administrator name? It's probably simple but just am not sure
what to do.

Also, is it possible to access Outlook and other programs, like QuickBooks,
remotely?

Thank you!

The user ID and password are local to the PC you are trying to login to. So
if your trying to login in to PC-A from PC-B use a user ID and password for
PC-A. If your a home user ignore the domain entry and leave it blank.

Once you login to PC-A you can run any program on that PC just like you were
sitting in front of it.

It still doesn't work, so I was wondering if something else isn't entered
right - or where else to start? I used the user name for administrator and
also that password, but "other" was already filled in for the user name on
the remote computer (I tried it both ways). Anyway, this is what the
message says" The client could not connect to the remote computer. REmote
connections could not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept
new connections. It is also possible that network problems are preventing
your connection."

Thank you for your help.

Is Remote Desktop enabled on the host PC, ie. the PC you want to remotely
access? Remember if the remote PC is running XP Home then it can not act as
at Remote Desktop host.

Can you ping the Remote PC? If not is the firewall configured to allow
incoming Remote Desktop connections?

Are you calling the correct IP address?
