Remote Desktop kills host machine display

I've now seen this on more than one machine, when you remote desktop into
the machine everything is fine and you can disconnect and/or log out.
Either way the host machine is left in a sort of suspend, and the monitor
will not wake up. The machine is responding to commands, the monitor is
just not powered up by the card.

In both cases its a Radeon card, it has happened with every driver version I
have tried in the last 6 months including the latest.

It doesn't happen on every machine with a Radeon, several work fine.

Any have a clue?

I have the exact same problem when remote connecting
through my Dlink wireless cable/router to my IBM Thinkpad
which has an ATI Fire GL card. I have to kill the laptop
in order to log back into it locally. I can remote in
from another laptop here in the house just fine, but when
I disconnect I still do not get the screen back. I have
remoted in from another laptop here but not experienced
the problem. I am not sure if it has something to do
with time or what because normally I am remoting in while
at work. When I get home and try to log in, nada. Not
sure what the deal is but it sure is a pain.
