Remote Desktop dropped connections. Timeout or Firewall?

I use RD quite a bit in the office to work on lab machines. If the
session is left idle for some period of time, the connection goes away.
I can reconnect and see that the remote system never rebooted or
appeared to have a problem. Is there a timeout for this? I have
checked in the group policy editor and everything is set to "not
configured" indicating no timeout. Is there another place to look.

We have been having sporadic disconnects between this lab and the rest
of the building doing other things as well. The new firewall is
suspect, so I am trying to see if this is another data point, or normal
RD behavior.

You might check the network card power management settings on both machines.
If they are idle the network card may be powering down. In device manager go
to the properties of the NIC and select the Power Management tab. Deselect
both items at the top.
