Remote Desktop doesn't connect online ...

Right click on the service and look at the properties. Then go to the
dependencies tab...

If Remote Desktop works over your local LAN from another local PC then it
comes down to a router issue (ie. port forwarding) or using the incorrect
public IP address. An outside possibility is the ISP at the other end of the
link is blocking Remote Desktop traffic outbound but that is a stretch
unless your trying to connect from a work PC.

Hi Al,
when I open up the "services.msc", which of the entries represents the RDP
host PC ? So I can check the dependencies.
Remote Desktop worked over local LAN for me, I only have the online problem.
So it is an router issue / port forwarding. I've enabled the 3389 port and
tested it with the link you gave me http://www.canyouseeme.org/. There me and
my son are each also get the IP address for the session from. The message is :
****
Success: I can see your service on 71.136.185.41 on port (3389)
Your ISP is not blocking port 3389
****
Regarding ISP Remote Desktop traffic block, the ISP in USA is At&T and in
Germany T-Online, both major ISPs ... can't think that they have deactivated
Remote Desktop for their users ... also haven't seen a message like that on
Google.

I was only having you check dependencies for Remote Assistance...

So it sounds like its an addressing issue then? Are you sure your son is
using the correct IP, ie. as reported by http://www.whatismyip.com, to call
you from Germany or vice versa? I presume he has also tested RDP locally
from another PC on his local LAN and that works and that he has also passed
the http://www.canyouseeme.org test on his PC.

FWIW, I just tried that IP and got to a RDP login screen which I presume is
your PC?

Send me an email at (e-mail address removed) with your email address.
