Remote Desktop Disconnected -Error

Anthony Smith

Good Morning,

I hope everyone is doing well today. I'm running WinXPSP2 and trying to
connect to a server on our LAN using Remote Desktop. I can usually do this
with no problem but I'm getting the following error:

Remote Desktop Disconnected
The client could not connect. You are already connected to the consol of
this computer. A new console session cannot be established.

Now if I try to connect to another desktop on the LAN there isn't a problem
from this machine.
Now if I GO to another machine and try to connect to the server via Remote
Desktop it connects fine to the server. So there is not problem with the
server accepting Remote Desktop, it's something with this Windows XP
machine. Maybe I didn't log off properly the last time I was on. I've
rebooted several times but still can log in via Remote Desktop.

Thanks!

Sincerely,
Anthony Smith

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded and installed the update but I'm still getting the same error. I can try to remote desktop to another machine and it works ok, but when I try the server it gives me the error.
Other machines on the LAN can remote desktop into the server without any problem.
I'm thinking I didn't log out properly maybe the last time I was in there. But both the server and my machine have been rebooted several times.
