ok, here's a fun one, and I could use some help!

I have 2 laptops
1 mac and 1 pc
I have Remote Desktop Connection on both of them
when I try to connect through my home dsl, I get a black screen. But if I
bring either of the laptops to one of the multiple outside coffee shops... It
works perfectly!

I've tried a bunch of things at home including
1 connecting directly through dsl modem, skipping router
2 using router with laptop listed as the dmz IP
3 forwarding port 3389 directly to the laptop

nothing seems to work, and I just get a black screen

any idea?
I even tried (or think I tried) setting the mtu size... b ut it didn't seem
to work either

thanks!

I have a similar issue. My wife used to use Real VNC to connect into work,
but her system has been upgraded to XP Pro so now she establishes a VPN into
her network and then uses RDP. It has worked on and off for the past week
and now just comes up with a black screen. What is wierd is that it connects
under my user profile, but then does not recognize my mouse or keyboard and
eventually starts flashing a "lost connectivity" icon in the upper right
corner, at which point I close the RDP connection. However, when we use the
same exact settings under my wife's user profile, she just gets a black
screen. I have used the ping -l1500 -fIPaddress command and it pings
succesfully. I am also able to ping the ip as well.
When I did telnet IPaddress 3389 it connected, however when I did a netstat
-a .. port 3389 was not listed. What am I missing here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
