Remote Desktop Connection/Linksys WRT54G Router

I have a desktop and laptop computer. Both are using
Windows XP Pro. I have the Desktop Ethernet connected to
the Router. The laptop is wireless to the router. I
have a network between the two while wireless on the
router. File and Printer share works fine. Now I'm
trying to use Windows XP Pro "Remote Desktop Connection"
to remotely connect to the desktop, from the laptop at
home. I've set up the desktop to host. I've never been
able to remotely connect outside the router using the
laptop. It will remote desktop connect inside the
router. How do I, over the internet, set things up
between the computers and router so that a remote can
work from outside the router.

HELP!!

You need to forward TCP Port 3389 through the router to the private LAN IP of the desktop. Call
using the public IP, ie. the IP assigned by your ISP, of the router.

Hi Dave, I have been able to do what you want with that router by allowing port forwarding to be enabled for the following ports in the router: 80, 443, 3389, 4125. You also need the internal IP of the PC you wish to connect to to fill in each line
Note, this will only work if the router is behind a fixed external IP you know to address.
