remote control windows xp pro

I need to be able to remotely control the security on the folders (right
click, sharing and security)on a windows xp pro desktop from my media center
laptop. For half of today, I could map a network drive and then right click,
go to sharing and security and remotely control the users (after entering in
my password for my desktop). Now, it doesn't work. Any ideas?

"It doesn't work" doesn't tell us a great deal. Some detail
about what exactly happens when you try would be helpful.
