problem but that seems to be a problem in itself.
I am trying to use the Remote Desktop Connection and asked him to get his
computer number from My Computer/Properties/My Computer name but he has
changed it to a name and there is no numbers there.
Am I on the right track to do this or is there some other method. I know
that he can email me with a requests but I was wondering if there was a
method where I could connect to his computer, with permission of course.

Before you can assist other people using Remote Desktop you
need to do some practice runs in order to familiarise yourself
with the concept, first by connecting to some other PC connected
to the same network as your own PC, then to your own PC
while working from outside your network. Here are some
keypoints to observe:
- The RDP host must run WinXP Professional.
- It must have Remote Desktop enabled.
- You must specify the accounts on the RDP host that
are authorised to use RDP.
- If the host has a non-Windows firewall then it must pass
port 3389 packets.
- The host PC must have a fixed internal IP address.
- You must know the external IP address of the host PC.
- The router at the host end must direct port 3389 packets
to the host PC's IP address.
