For quite some time I have been searching for a solution to a problem I am having with Remote Assistance. If I send an invitation, the recipient has no trouble opening it, viewing and taking control of my computer. If they initiate the invitation however, I can never open it to view their computers. Each time, I get the following message in a dialog box:

"Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the remote host name could not be resolved. Please try again."

I have made certain that:

1. Their firewalls are disabled.
2. The settings in My Computer/Properties/Remote are checked to allow Remote Assistance on both machines.
3. There are no routers involved.

In my attempts to solve this problem, I have discovered that it is a common problem. Does anyone have the "magic" solution for this?

Your help will be very much appreciated.

Hi Audrey,

So when you say no routers are involved then how are you connecting? Internal network or over the internet with modems?
