remote assistance non-domain laptop

Hi,

How do you set up remote assistance on a laptop that isn't part of a domain?
Everything I've read indicates an "offer" only works in a domain or trusted
domain.
How does the laptop user ask for help without an "offer"?

I forgot one other important info - the laptop user is on the road and may be
connected via a hotel LAN line or wireless.
