Hi,
I am having trouble getting Windows XP to remember my folder view settings in
Windows Explorer. Specifically, if I open a folder and go to View,
Arrange Icons by . . . and select anything, the setting will revert back
to "Auto arrange" the next time I open that folder. This is true for
all folders. I have tried:
1. Rebooting;
2. Following the instructions in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 813771,
increasing the Registry to increase the number of folders Windows can
remember the settings for to 5000; and
3. Unchecking and rechecking the "Remember each folder's View settings"
box in Folder Options box View settings.
Oddly enough, if I choose "Show in Groups" Under View, Arrange Icons by . . .,
that setting will stick. However, that is not the seting I want to use.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
