Looks like this has already been discussed. This is from an earlier thread:
"If the emails are kept in the Inbox you will see a reminder for those items.
In folders other than the default Inbox, Calendar, Tasks and Contacts items
with reminders only turn red when due. You can also use a 3rd party addin to
fire reminders in additional folders for emails other than the Inbox.
