Reminder Times

Outlook 2007

I have a problem that has been dogging me for a while, and I've been unable
to find a solution. This is probably easiest to explain with an example. I
setup a task with a reminder for every weekday at 8:00 AM. This particular
task does not require any advanced notice, so I set the reminder to come up
on time and not before. This morning it came up at 8:00 AM (The correct
time for the reminder), but at the top of the dialog box it shows:

Due: Wednesday, September 9, 2009 5:00 PM

The "Due in" column for the reminder showed "7 hours."

I've checked my system time, and it is set correctly, and I've confirmed
that the task reminder was set to come up on time and not before. I've also
tried starting Outlook with the /cleanreminders switch.

How is it that a task reminder that is set for 8:00 AM, that is set to come
up on time and not before, and that does indeed come up one time, seems to
think that it is due at 5:00 PM?

Shouldn't the word "logic" be in quotes? :)

I just did a test, and it seems to only do that on Task items. Calendar
appointments appear to work as they always have, which makes sense.

I noticed the issue a couple of months back, but since Outlook was acting
kind of sketchy anyway, I thought that maybe it was a symptom of my other
problems, and not an intentional change to the way Outlook works.

Thanks for the explaination.

It's the new SP2 logic. :) Tasks are 'due' at the end of the workday. The
reminder is just when you are reminded.

Someone brought it to my attention in July:

Yeah, it's MS "logic" at work. :) Only tasks are affected by this change.
