All Tasks in Outlook 2007 are now due at 5 PM?

J

John

In the Reminder window, my tasks pop up at the correct reminder time, but
they all show the same due time of 5 PM. Therefore, if it's between 7 AM and
8 AM in the morning, they all show due in 10 hours.

This seems to be a new problem only affecting Tasks. My Calendar entries
work perfectly in the Reminder window.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Someone mentioned it last week. It displays the end of your workday (as set
in tools, options, task options).

Thank you very much for your quick response Diane.

However, I just replicated this issue on Outlook 2003 using another computer
in my home and it works beautifully, just as I've always been accustomed to
in Outlook 2007 for over a year. Example: If I set a task for tomorrow, June
24 with a reminder at 9:00 AM, that task will pop up in the Reminder window
at 9:00 AM tomorrow and say under the "Due In" column, "Now," not the amount
of time prior to 5 PM. In addition, if you highlight that task in the
Reminder window, it will say at the top: Due Wednesday, June 24 9:00 AM … not
5 PM, as my Outlook 2007 is now doing to all my tasks, regardless of date and
reminder time.

As you mentioned, I went to the Tools|Options|Task Options dialog box in
Outlook 2007, and I only see two color-changing options and three other check
boxes, but nothing having to do with the end of my workday -- or setting a
time for that matter. “Set reminders on tasks with due dates†seems to be the
closest checkbox option to what you are referring, but it serves a different
function, for which I am aware.

So what am I missing?

Thanks,
John

I meant tools, options, calendar options - you can set the work day start
and end times. The reminder window is getting the task's time from there.

Are you saying that its now working like this in outlook 2003? I checked it
on a copy that i think is fully updated and it shows the reminder time, not
the end of the workday.

Outlook 2003 is working great; my issue just started in Outlook 2007
yesterday. Outlook 2003 shows the reminder time at the top when that task is
highlighted in the Reminder box and under the “Due In†column it will first
show “Now†when it initially pops up -- and after 2 hours it will say “2
hours ago†(for example). This is what I want and have been used to in my
Outlook 2007 until yesterday.

Here’s a problem example in my Outlook 2007: I created a task reminder for
10:00 AM today in my Outlook 2007. The task popped up in the Reminder box at
10:00 AM, which is perfect. Where things go wrong are … it will say at the
top … Due: Tuesday, June 23, 2009 5 PM -- AND -- under the “Due In†column it
will give the amount of time left until 5 PM, depending on the time of day
you’re looking at the Reminder box. It’s very strange!

Any thoughts? Thank you so much Diane.

I know what the problem is - I can repro it.

You are absolutely sure it just started yesterday? If so, see what office
updates were installed. (Control panel, add/remove programs (winxp) or

Diane,

Did I understand you correctly; you were able to reproduce my same problem
in your version of Outlook 2007?

And to answer your question … I say that I saw it for the first time
yesterday, but I see the latest barrage of Microsoft updates, including
specific Office and Outlook updates occurred on June 9. Could the problem
have started then I not have caught it? Sure. I just picked up on it
yesterday.

I did speak with a senior technical representative via telephone and she
labeled it as a design flaw. I just want it back as it used to be!

Thanks Diane. I so appreciate your help.

highlighted in the Reminder box and under the “Due In†column it will
first
show “Now†when it initially pops up -- and after 2 hours it will say
“2
hours ago†(for example). This is what I want and have been used to in
my
Outlook 2007 until yesterday.

Here’s a problem example in my Outlook 2007: I created a task reminder
for
10:00 AM today in my Outlook 2007. The task popped up in the Reminder
box
at
10:00 AM, which is perfect. Where things go wrong are … it will say at
the
top … Due: Tuesday, June 23, 2009 5 PM -- AND -- under the “Due Inâ€
column
it
will give the amount of time left until 5 PM, depending on the time of
day
you’re looking at the Reminder box. It’s very strange!

Any thoughts? Thank you so much Diane.

-----------------------------------------------------

:

I meant tools, options, calendar options - you can set the work day
start
and end times. The reminder window is getting the task's time from
there.

Are you saying that its now working like this in outlook 2003? I
checked
it
on a copy that i think is fully updated and it shows the reminder
time,
not
the end of the workday.

Thank you very much for your quick response Diane.

However, I just replicated this issue on Outlook 2003 using another
computer
in my home and it works beautifully, just as I've always been
accustomed
to
in Outlook 2007 for over a year. Example: If I set a task for
tomorrow,
June
24 with a reminder at 9:00 AM, that task will pop up in the Reminder
window
at 9:00 AM tomorrow and say under the "Due In" column, "Now," not
the
amount
of time prior to 5 PM. In addition, if you highlight that task in
the
Reminder window, it will say at the top: Due Wednesday, June 24 9:00
AM …
not
5 PM, as my Outlook 2007 is now doing to all my tasks, regardless of
date
and
reminder time.

As you mentioned, I went to the Tools|Options|Task Options dialog
box
in
Outlook 2007, and I only see two color-changing options and three
other
check
boxes, but nothing having to do with the end of my workday -- or
setting a
time for that matter. “Set reminders on tasks with due dates†seems
to
be
the
closest checkbox option to what you are referring, but it serves a
different
function, for which I am aware.

So what am I missing?

Thanks,
John

:

Someone mentioned it last week. It displays the end of your
workday
(as
set
in tools, options, task options).

In the Reminder window, my tasks pop up at the correct reminder
time,
but
they all show the same due time of 5 PM. Therefore, if it's
between
7
AM
and
8 AM in the morning, they all show due in 10 hours.

This seems to be a new problem only affecting Tasks. My Calendar
entries
work perfectly in the Reminder window.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I agree with Virginia. This BUG is very annoying and should have been
resolved long ago! To say that Microsoft is working on it is not helpful at
all.

:

I know what the problem is - I can repro it.

You are absolutely sure it just started yesterday? If so, see what office
updates were installed. (Control panel, add/remove programs (winxp) or
programs (vista))

And what did you expect us *users* here in Usenet to do about Microsoft
regarding THEIR code? This pretense of a forum (which is actually a gateway
to Usenet) is NOT a free venue for support from Microsoft. We are just
users here just like you.

What is Usenet:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newsgroups
http://www.masonicinfo.com/newsgroups.htm
http://www.mcfedries.com/Ramblings/usenet-primer.asp

When using a webnews-for-dummies interface (e.g., Microsoft's Communities,
Google Groups, or a leech site using a forum-to-Usenet proxy), those are
gateways to Usenet. Despite the pretense of a forum, you are participating
in a newsgroup (aka Usenet).

If you want Microsoft to change something about their code, contact THEM.
