Remember IE authentication passwords

I'm not sure if this is a Windows networking or IE
problem due to the integration between the two, but here
goes:

Websites that prompt for authentication by producing a
pop-up box asking for user name and password usually have
a "Remeber my password" checkbox. On a machine I'm using
there is not one and consequently Windows won't cache my
password. One such box is at the link below in case it
isn't clear what I'm on about:
http://www.123reg.co.uk/secure-redir.cgi?to=secure/

I've presumably changed a setting at some point to remove
this option, but I can't work out which. The autocomplete
options in Internet Options refer to passwords in forms
which is something else entirely.

AND WHAT IS THE FORM LOOK LIKE NOW?
Now the form - rather the dialogue box - is look like
exactly the same but without the "remember my password"
checkbox.

Go to Control Panel - Internet Options - Content page. Click
Autocomplete and make sure that 'Usernames and passwords on forms' is
checked.
