Reloading IE 6.0

I have a couple of small problems with IE 6.0 with the lastest service pack.
I am wondering if its is possible to remove the current IE program and reload
the program from the Microsoft support pages? I would hope this would fix
the minor problems. I could use Navigator to access the Microsoft site, but
I have read that deleting IE will make all versions of the windows OS fail.
I am not even sure that the add/remove programs in the Control Panel would
allow me to delete IE.

Has anybody had any experience with this procedure? Can it be done?

How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows
XP

Make sure your anti-virus is turned off.
The section
Windows XP and Windows XP SP1: Edit the registry and install Internet
Explorer 6
works on earlier versions of Windows.
