Release Date for Windows XP SP2?

S

sgmurphy

I have heard multiple release dates for Windows XP S2--
First of August, End of August, September?

We are doing testing and some users have automatic
updates and I need to know exactly when this is being
pushed down to user's with automatic updates?

Hasn't been officially announced yet - your guess is as good as mine. I
believe MS still says "mid-2004".

I don't know that you want to have users d/l or install this automatically
before you've played with it on a lab machine - it's going to make a LOT of
changes.

Greetings Steve,

According sources close to Microsoft, the build stage at MS is already with
a string of:

Build2073_rtm_ (notice the RTM string)

This is means that Windows Xp Service Pack 2 would be released in a few
weeks time.

Thanks and best of luck!

There's no solid release date yet, Steve. Rumors are citing August, as
you've no doubt heard.

The users with autoupdate turned on will most likely start downloading the
updates on the day it gets released to the web.

Sorry there's isn't more exact information for you.

Sorry, but there's no "exactly when" answer available. No date
has been announced, and there's nothing but rumours around.

There's been some publicity over dates in August, and I'd there's
a fair chance that it could be some time in August, but there are
no guarantees.

Have you ever developed software? Or built something even
moderately complex? Did you know in advance when it would be
finished?

Crusty's point is that nobody knows for sure.
