Relaying Denied

Mick

I have 2 e-mail accounts set up with Outlook 2002, account 1 is through my
own ISP and account 2 is using another domain (remote office) I can send and
receive to / from both accounts to anyone without problems, but I cannot
send mail using account 2 to another address at the account 2 domain. I get
a message telling me that 'Relaying was Denied'

Any ideas??

You might have to clarify the question a bit since you start saying that you
can send/receive from both accounts to anyone w/out problems and then say
account 2 is the problem. In any event, if I read between the lines I think
you are trying to say this...

When using account #2, I can send mail to any person that has an account on
the remote office/domain. When I try to use account #2 to send mail to
someone that doesn't have an account on the remote office/domain I get the
relaying denied message. If this is an accurate description, then I would
say this is normal because the server has been configured to not allow
external hosts to send mail through it to other networks (in other words, it
will only accept mail for the accounts it maintains). Check with the help
desk/network support staff of that remote domain and ask what needs to be
done to allow you to send mail to anyone when connected to an external (to
them) network. The might just come back and say you have to authenticate
using a userid/password in order to send or they will come back and say you
have to dialin to their network in order to send mail.
