Error sending an email, but nothing in the outbox

I'm having an issue with Outlook that I can't seem to figure out. I use Cox
High Speed internet as my provider at home. I also have a personalized
domain name in which I have an email address using the domain name. Since
Cox internet service does not allow relaying through that domain, I am
unable to send mail through the email account using the domain name from my
website. However, I can receive email from that account with no problem.
I've only recently been getting an error durring the Send/Receive operation
on my domain account. It receives any emails that come in, but it appears
that the account is trying to send something which I already know it can't
do. I have more than one email account using my domain name that Outlook
checks for email on. But only one account is reporting the error. I've
checked the Outbox and there is nothing there.

Where else can I look to find this outgoing message so that I can deleted
and prevent the error?

Thanks,
Paul

You should be able to by using the proper authentication for the server
doing the sending. For example, I can send a message that appears to come
from Yahoo.com by sending through my AT&T SMTP server as long as I use the
AT&T credentials when I connect to the server. SO, in the account using
your personal domain address as sender, specify the Cox SMTP server and on
the Outgoing Server tab of the account properties, choose "My outgoing
server (SMTP) requires authentication" and select the "Log on using" radio
button, filling in your Cox credentials in the User Name and Password
fields.

I appreciate your reply and I certainly may try what you suggest in order to
get past the relaying issue. However, my problem is that Outlook is trying
to send an email that I did not initiate. I know this because the
Send/Receive details shows that it is attempting to send one email...again,
an email that I did not compose. Yet, when I look in the Inbox, there is
nothing there. A simply want to find where this "alleged" email is and why
Outlook is trying to send it. Any additional assistances is appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

Do you mean the Outbox?

Possibly an underliverable read receipt. See if this helps:

Is it at all possible that you initiated an email in Outlook Express at one
time? I had a similar issue and found that when I opened OE, as a last
resort, that there was a message hanging in the Outbox that needed to be
deleted.
