I have been having problems with my computer the last several days.
I had a friend look at my computer and they said I need to reinstall XP
I do not have a CD because when I bought it there was no CD it was already
on here.
The problem is I am getting Red X's and this page can not be displayed when
I am on sites.
Is there a ways to reinstall without the CD?

Reinstalling xp wont solve that, try search at microsoft, type:macromedia
Follow results to web page, install shockwave, then locate downloads, locate
and install flash player also.Other than that update graphic driver/software.

I have done that and rebooted still didnt help. I also checked for updates
and there is nothing at this time.
I have been hassling with this problem for several days. I am going to
probably break down and take it in to the shop.

I have done that and rebooted but it did not work.
I checked windows update and there are no updates at this time.

I have decided I might as well break down and take it in to the shop.

check security and privacy options under tools-internet options. make sure
you are not blocking the sites

Yeah I have gone through the whole thing checking security, my ISP, pop up
blocker I just really done want to spend money if its something I can fix.

I wonder if downloading the network setup version (full version for
deployment)of internet explorer 6 would fix this? I don't have the link
handy but it might be worth a shot.
what version and service pack of xp do you have? it sounds like a security
error somewhere.
I assume you've deleted all temp files under user-local settings-temp and
under windows-temp.
I'm just brainstorming here....

I have IE 6.0 and SP 2
Yes I have cleared everything out.
I hope you can come up with a good brainstorm.

I tried the link but when I went to download it said windows has detected a
newer version of ie can not install.
Do I need to uninstall IE now??
Thanks

might make things worse but what have you got to lose?
make sure in add/remove/windows components that IIS (internet info
services) is disabled and uninstalled before trying that though. I had a
lot of conflicts with IIS and sp2.
fresh out of ideas now, sorry
