Reinstalling Win2k professional

well I upgraded win 98 to win2k pro. and now I want to
reinstall the OS w/o reformattting. when i put the cd
into the bay it gives me the option of upgrading my OS to
win2k w/o delteting any of my settigs or programs. Or i
can do a clean install and lose all my programs. My
question is whether or not I can upgrade win2k if i
already have win2k installed. Or if I go w/ the clean
install, if I lose all my files, not just my currently
installed programs. Let me know if anyone has the solution

Runing setup while Win98 is running leaves compatable
applications and user files rights etc.

Installing Win2k over itself does the same thing.

Booting from the cd gives you options to install with
current file system wich does a "clean OS install" but
leaves data, and application files but not installed. Or,
formating taking advantage of NTFS and doing a real clean
install -no data just the bare OS.

Hope that helps...
