Don,

You can start by giving us more details than what you have.

You say you cannot "restall" (reinstall?) your photo program since you
formatted your hard drive. My guess is that you have done more than
formatted a hard drive.

Did you format your hard drive and install Windows XP? If so, which version
of Windows XP? Windows XP Home Edition? Windows XP Professional Edition?
Windows XP 64Bit Edition? Windows XP Tablet Edition? Windows XP Media
Center Edition?

Once you had Windows XP installed, did you turn on a firewall before
connecting the machine to the Internet?
Did you then proceed to patch the machine with all critical updates
available from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ ?

If you have not done the above, then installing your photo program will be
difficult. You have to have some Operating System running (It could be
Windows 9X/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003 or a multitude of others) and the photo
program in questiuon must be compatable with the operating system you have
installed.

So let's start with the basics..

- Which Operating system do you have installed?
- Is it fully patched or at least patched with the latest critical updates?
- Have you downloaded and installed the latest hardware drivers (video card,
sound card, chipset, etc) from the various hardware manufacturers of the
components in your computer?
- What "photo program" are you attempting to install?
- Is said "photo program" compatable with whatever operating system you have
on your PC at this time?
- When you put in the installation media (is it CD or floppy disk or
something else?) for the "photo prgoram", what is not happening that you
expect? Are you expecting it to just automatically run and install?
- If you are expecting it to just autorun and install, have you tried
manually running the "setup" or "install" from the media in question?
- Do you receive any errors when you attempt to install the application?
- Do any other applications work as you expect?
- What antivirus software are you currently running? Have you ran a full
scan with this antivirus software (after updating it) to be sure you are not
infected with any viruses/trojans/worms? Have you tried disabling this
antivirus software while attempting to install this "photo program"?
- Have you scanned your system for spyware/scumware and cleaned it?
Applications such as "Spybot Search and Destroy" and "Lavasoft AdAware" and
"CWShredder" and "Javacool's SpywareBlaster" are very good at helping you
not only clean your PC but keep it that way (and are free.)

If you can give us a little more information and/or use these questions to
help you solve your own problem, fantastic!

Hi Shenan,
I'll try not to miss anything that you need.I'm using Windows XP Professional as my O/S.I have downloaded everything that windows has posted,Patches, drivers and more.
The programs that I'm trying to load are Adobe Photo Album, also a Trailer Life cd.
The media are C D"s ,they are compatable as I have used themfor a long time.
Before I would put the CD in the CD-Rom and the inst came up to follow. Now nothing, so I go to the run box type autorun or setup. comed on the screen to go the control panel and run install new hwd. did not work.
I run Norton Antivirus W/updates.Norton scan all incoming and outgoing traffic.
I also run a full scan each week.
I did the format about 8wks ago.everything work good until I wanted to add these programs. My HP psc All-In-One works great

Thanks for your help

First - you should not use the drivers from Microsoft - you should always
get your hardware drivers from the actual manufacturers of the product.
Critical Updates and even recommended updates - for the most part - sure.
Hardware Driver updates - they don't make the products, why trust them for
the "accessories"?

You never stated "How" you reinstalled Windows XP. Clean installation or
over the top of a previous OS?

You also never said what happens when you try to run the setup on these two
programs - do they just not respond or do they give you an error and exit
out of the installation at some point? Anything in the Event Log? When you
say you have used them in the past - do you mean "with Windows XP?"

Look through your event log for any and all errors:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308427

Other than those two applications, can you install other applications/run
other things from CD?
