Guest

I had ha updated Internet Explorer 7 Full Version, with Microsoft help.

After that I started having problems.

Then I decided to uninstall IE 7 and get IE6.

I still have problems with Oulook Express 6.0.- I am not able to get from
Email links any pages.

I would like to know to reinstall Outlook Express.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Reinstalling OE won't help. Go to Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs |
Set Program Access and Defaults and make sure Internet Explorer is your
default browser.

You don't need to reinstall anything.

1. You click on a link and an IE window doesn't even open:

http://www.oehelp.com/ielnk.aspx

2. You click on a link and an IE window opens but it doesn't load: Try the
following fix by MVP Kai Schaetzl =>

Also see http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/26.html

3. Installing the latest Cumulative Patch for IE may solve the problem as a
side-affect. Check in at Windows Update.

I tried your instructions you gave me.

I checked "Internet Explorer" and click [OK].

When I went back to check that page, "Internet Explorer" is unchecked.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Set Program Access and Defaults and make sure Internet Explorer is your
default browser.

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT URL:Internet Shortcut)
and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the
double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

If none of that helps, It might be a security program blocking the Registry
change it needs to make. A few, but not all, of the programs now doing this
are:
Ad-aware's Ad-Watch
IBM Access Connections
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spysweeper
Spyware Doctor
Windows Defender
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions.

In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 or Norton 2007 it actually has to be
uninstalled. Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on until you
reinstall Zone Alarm.

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking and try the change.
