Reinstalling Office 2000

Arlene

All my data is stored in Outlook. Last week I was unalbe
to open Outlook. Received the msg: "A required component
is missing OMI9.DLL. Please install MS Outlook again."
The 2nd msg: "Data1.msi file is missing. The software
originally installed when computer was purchased by a
first party, was "Premium." I now have a new copy of
Office 2000. When I uninstall Office 2000 Premium, &
reinstall Office 2000, will I lose all my contacts, and
calendar etc. currently in MS Office? Please let me know
how to reinstall Office 2000 without losing my data in
Outlook.

Reinstalling won't cause a data loss (just like uninstalling Office doesn't
cause you to loose all your Word documents)

That said; it's always good to back-up your pst-file before doing something
"drastic" to Outlook

Dear Roady:

Thank you for your reply to my Outlook question. I will
take your word for it. Last week, I had thought to back
up the files on the Zip Drive, but couldn't figure out
where the kids put the Zip Disk. Then my life stopped
when nothing from Outlook was printed, or backed up.
Besides, I could not even open the Outlook Files which
were backed up on Zip a few weeks ago. If the OMI9.DLL or
Data1.msi file is missing, you CANNOT even open the Zip
files. That is not a comforting thought. Thank you for
your assistance!
