reinstalling networking protocols

I am getting the message : error 720 remote and local computer cannot agree
on network control protocols.

I want to uninstall and reinstall the tcp/ip protocol.

How do I do this.

I have Windows 2000 sp3 with the latest updates.

Network properties: TCP/IP protocol, Uninstall
Note: The present IP config must be saved in a forever accurate sheet of
paper.
