I was having some problems trying to reinstall IE6 SP1. On Startup, Windows
claims that IE can't be found on the system, yet when I attempt to reinstall
IE6 SP1 (which is on my D: drive in it's entirety and ready to go), my system
instructs me that it has detected a more recent version of IE on my computer
and subesquently won't allow the reinstallation to proceed.
Is there any way that I can get around this prompt and replace the IE that
my computer claims to be missing (but won't let me reinstall because it
claims that I already have a newer version of IE on my system)? I'm sick of
having IE crash repatedly at Startup, and find it funny that a program can be
both missing and present in it's most recent version. Is there another way
around the error that keeps causing my IE crash?
The program to blame for the crash is: ws2help0.exe
My current (supposedly nonexistent) IE version is:
6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158
Thanks in advance for any help/tips you may be able to provide. Have a
great day!
