Reinstalling FP 2000 after OS Upgrade

C

Cathy Dean

I recently upgraded Windows ME to XP Pro and am reinstalling applications. My
standalone upgrade version on FrontPage 2000 can't find a previous version
and halts the install. This version already exists on the hard drive but
apparently it doesn't "qualify" me.

What can I do to reinstall this product short of first reinstalling previous
versions or buying a new version?

You need to have the prior version disks. When FP 2000 asks for the
qualifyiing version, remove it and insert the previous version disk and
continue.

Also, make sure you select Custom Install when you start the FP 2000 installation
and do "Not" install the Personal Web Server ( PWS ) as it is not compatible with XP.

XP Pro comes with IIS as a server. You have to install it using the add windows components feature.
If you want to work with server based webs that is.
