Reinstalled Windows XP but my computer now makes no sound.

I reinstalled XP but there's no sound and no access to the volume
control. I can't figure out how to solve the problem. My Dell
computer's help function said to go to the contol panel, to printers,
and to click on add hardware, but that led nowhere. Any ideas? Thanks!

Visit the Dell support web site and enter your Dell Service Tag number.
Then download and install the Audio drivers designed for your computer.

Hi and thanks. Unfortunately there's nothing there of any help--no
drivers for audio. Any other ideas? I did a scan of my computer and got
a message saying there was no sound card installed. Tried installing
drivers from discs that came with my computer. No luck. What do I do?
I'm lost. Help!!

What is your audio device or sound card name? There are (3) different audio file
downloads available:

I had a similar problem when rebooting my Gateway computer and cleaning out
the C Drive. Just make sure you install everything on the CDs which were
supplied to you including all sub files which may look unnessasary. Doing
this somehow the sound worked.

Hi Carey--

Thanks so much. I downloaded and installed all three sets of drivers
and one of them somehow did the trick. I REALLY appreciate your help.
And that of everyone else who offered assistance!
