reinstalled W2K

Hi!
Out of the blue my Dell Dimension 4100 refused to boot up
and let me go pass the "Windows 2000 Professional"
screen. I can't even get to the logon screen. I tried
several times to repair W2K with Product Recovery CD that
Dell includes but with no luck. I ended up doing a clean
install on a new directory (winnt2). Of course all my
drivers are not there such as the CD-RW, printer, monitor,
etc. Now my question, is there a painless way that I can
just move my DLL files and setting to the new directory
and my machine would boot up like nothing happened?
thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Hi Chenonceau,
Unfortunately, there's really not an easy way to just move the drivers and
configuration over. Doing so would entail copying the Windows Registry
files, all needed drivers, and all files associated with the drivers. This
wouldn't be recommended for several reasons, not the least of which is that
one of these drivers, or your Registry, might be causing the no-boot
situation in the previous OS installation.

Have you tried booting to the "bad" installation of Windows with the "Last
Known Good" configuration? If not, give it a try, this could possibly get
you back into your original OS. Just tap F8 (a few times) right when Windows
starts loading (immediately after the POST / memory test screen), and choose
"Last Known Good" from the menu.
