Hi just changed my mother board and video card system would not boot.
tried to boot for disk displayed check system then blank screen. using sata
drives.
and nothing happens ctr, alt, del, restarts system. do not want to loose the
programs and data i have on disk.
Boot a Linux Live-CD like "knoppix" (google) and burn away all your
needed files/data.
Then do a fresh install of Windows (Or stay with Linux). For your SATA
drivers to work in Windows setup (will NOT be detected!), you have to
create a floppy disk with the drivers for your SATA-Controller. There
should be a how-to on the CD oder manual of your Motherboard on how to
create that disk. Then, when booting from Windows CD, press F6 when
prompted. There should be a notice on the bottom of the screen when the
screen gets blue after CD-Boot.
When done with Windows Setup, go to
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com,
install ALL updates (several reboots and page-revisits will be
required). Then install rest of needed drivers. Then install programs.
Then copy back your burned data.
