reinstall without reinstalling programs?

I am getting a new motherboard and will have to reinstall
XP. From past experience, everytime I do this I have to
reinstall all of my programs. Is there anyway to
reinstall XP yet keep the registry so I don't have to
spend several days installing everything again?

You should be able to do a repair install and all you need do is the Windows
Updates. Follow the instructions on the following link.
