Reinstall win XP pro

My computer that had WinXP Pro on died due to electrical
surge. MB and HD are gone. I purchased a bew computer with
no OS but Win Xp will not ket me load on the new computer
as the hardware config is different. What do I need to do
to laod XP on this new computer to override the old
settings. I am not adding to a 2nd computer just trying to
use my original copy on a new computer

Hi,

Did it originally come preinstalled? If so, it likely will not install on
anything but the equipment it came with, as these distributions are tied to
the original hardware. Unless you replaced the motherboard with one from the
manufacturer, you will need to get a retail copy of WinXP for the new board.
