Reinstall XP Pro

My computer was set up as dual booting, XP Pro and WIN 98.
It has one hard drive partitioned into C: (WIN 98) and F:
(XP pro). I've decided that I do not need to have the the
machine to be dual booting and therefore would like to
reformat the hard drive, eliminate the partition, and
reinstall XP Pro. My computer maker tells me I will need
to reregister XP Pro (i.e. pay again) if we do this. That
sounds odd to me. Is that correct? How can I format my
hard drive and reinstall XP Pro without buying a new
license?

You will need to activate XP Pro, there is no necessity to register it. Do
you have an original copy of XP Pro? You do realise that you will lose
everything on your hard drive if you only want one partition? The easy way
is to change the dual boot menu to no delay then format the Win 98
partition.

.
My apologies, I meant to say activate and not register.
I do have the original XP Professional disk. Will I need
to pay to activate it again if I reinstall XP
Professional? Since my machine is very new there's not
much on it and I can back that up quickly.

I'm not sure why your system builder told you that but assuming you have a
legal copy of XP, it costs nothing to activate and you can format, reinstall
and activate XP on the same machine as often as you want.
