Reinstall USB device every time I plug it in

I have got a Roxio Ripflash MP3 Player.

It is admittedly USB 1 and there is no specific windows
XP driver available. Whenever I plug it in, XP goes
through the "New Hardware Found" screen and I have to
insert the CD_ROM and reinstall the driver.

The device then works.

Next time I try, I have to go through the whole rigmarole
again, somewhat defeating thte point of the USB
connection.

This is also not unique to the MP3 player. XP also
forgets about the cardreader device I have.

Both worked fine under Windows 98 :(

Did you ever get a fix/answer for this? I'm having the
same problem...
 
Are you plugging it in the same USB socket each time? Some systems will
reinstall the driver if you switch the socket you use....
 
It does it in both sockets, every time... The devices
work, it's just annoying.
