usb device

Just got a portabe mp3 player. The first time i plugged it into my usb port (xp home edition), it said 'found new hardware- generic usb device' then it said your hardware might not work properly. Since then, anytime i plug it in it doesn't work and i can't see it in device manager.
i plugged it into another pc that uses usb 1.1 and it worked well there.
my labtop uses usb 2.0. so i think it may be a usb driver issue
Can someone please tell me what to do?
 
Are there any drivers for this MP3 player at the manufacturer's website?
