You can't. Having wiped your HD clean, each program has to be installed
from scratch in order to build the Registry entries.

Unless you backed up your Registry.

What you really need to do -- next time -- is use a drive image program such
as Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost to back up an image of your entire HD
to another partition.

Don't despair. It's time consuming, but you'll wind up with a cleaner,
faster-running drive when you're through.

hmm.....?
what backup program did you use?
do you also have the original installation disks that came with your cmptr?
or do you have a retail/oem of windows on cd?

It doesn't matter in the slightest. Backups of programs are useless when you
do a clean reinstallation of Windows. Programs have to be reinstalled form
the original media.

If you install an o.s. on partition D you can then log onto the D drive and
control the reinstallation
of the backup over pnto the c partition, presuming your backup was
originally of the c drive.

Then a simple "repair" to syncronize your o.s. on the c drive may or may not
be needed.

It;s work for me and will get you back as well.....

There is a reason for being able to make a backup. But there are some that
don't understand them....
