Reinstall of Windows XP Home Edition

My computer began to "see" my DVD/CD RW" as a CD ROM. I
first reinstalled XP and obtained the online download of
available upgrades. Immediately Windows "saw" the RW but
it did not "see" my broadband, modem, second harddrive, zip
drive, or MS Optical Rollerball mouse.

Then, I tried an "upgrade installation" of XP and the there
was no improvement.

Tried another complete reinstall and the results were the
same except that Windows could not obtain an online
download of upgrades available before installing itself.

I am now reduced to using my old computer and do not have
access to any files stored on my main computerws second
harddrive.

You need to install drivers for your hardware. Get them from the device
mftrs.' websites. Download them to the old computer you are using and
burn to a cd-r. Install on the new computer. If you are unsure of what
hardware you have, use the free Everest Home Edition inventory tool
