Hi all

It appears that one of the updates from Microsoft has taken out the
permissions option on two of my computers. (or virus)
On the six other computers I have (that have not been updated) the
permissions option is right where it should be.

I invite you to check your PC too.

I know something is wrong here
click "run" then "regedit" right click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and NO
PERMISSIONS option just these ( expand, new, and copy).

This is on Windows XP Home edition

Thanks for looking
any ideas?

Clark

Works for me but then I have Windows XP Pro. Maybe they changed it to
behave similarly to how you have to logon to the Administrator account -
by having to reboot into Safe Mode. Have you tried while logged in
under the Administrator account?

Yup.
I tried that right away, I even tried editing the registry "off-line" to set
permissions, that just got me a system that would not boot.
I'm up and running again thanks to a registry merge with a backup from two
weeks ago.
I could swear it was always there, but I work on so many computers I just
ain't sure.
The two computers I'm speaking of were both "upgraded" from 98se to XP all
legit product codes (I'm a Microsoft partner too)

I'm gonna Google the upgrade thing maybe that's something?
I've already scanned for virus, rootkits, and malware (even with UBD4win)
http://www.ubcd4win.com/

Thanks for the reply
