Registry Mechanic

I use Registry Mechanic to keep my Windows XP Home Edition registry from
filling with bunk and slowing down. Recently I updated or finished an
installation in Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003, which had
to do with Microsoft Plus! or it had to do with Microsoft Office Document
Imaging or Scanning. I'm not sure what feature, but, everytime I reboot and
run Registry Mechanic I receive the same two registry problems over and over:
i.e.

Registry Mechanic's Problem:

Detected Problems

Deep Registry Scan
[Double-click here to view 2 error(s) detected]

Section: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard\Digital
Imaging\CtxMgr\Strings]
Value: LeadToolsDir=0,0,c:\Program Files\Common Files\HP\Digital
Imaging\LeadTools

Correction: Delete this Entry

Section: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard\Digital
Imaging\CtxMgr\Strings]
Value: ProjectsPluginsDir=0,0,c:\Program Files\HP\Digital
Imaging\data\projectsplugins

Correction: Delete this Entry

Each time I repair the problems as suggested, i.e. "Correction: Delete this
Entry," and I do. When I reboot and run Registry Mechanic, the same two
problems return. As a note, as pertains to my scanner, if I use Microsoft
Office Document Scanning, my scanner stops scanning just short of the end of
the page, so I lose a bit of info, but if I go to Start/My Computer/hp
scanjet 4600 at the bottom of My Computer, and double-click that, my scanner
works correctly. I don't know if this problem with Microsoft Office Document
Scanning is related to the registry problem, but I thought I'd give all the
info I can.

Bottom line: Why do these two registry problems, after deletion, keep
returning with every reboot?

Just because RM reports these as problems does not necessarily mean that
they are problems.. it could be that RM is misreporting..

My guess would be because the real problem is that
something keeps deleting them ;-)

Have you tried turning off system restore? Then running your Mechanic and
deleting them then? You'll lose all your restore points but a new one is
created as soon as you boot up.

RM, the free d/l, will only fix certain items. He probably has the problems
in an area that is not covered by the free version?

Is there any way to know?

Why? Honestly is there something about RM that makes it worthless? Is yes,
I want to know. In the past, Windows XP eventually gets so slow because the
registry gets so confused, and add to this all the Ad- and Spyware bunk. So
I stay on top of keeping my system clean of Spy and Adware, run Norton daily
and SpySweeper, and I use RM. Since this procedure, my system is always
moving fast, and usually isn't bogged down with corruption. But if you know
something I don't, please inform me.

Lose RM and ignore it.
