Registry maintenance programs.

I see them everywhere, and my gut feel is that some/most/all of them are
dangerous at best. Would anybody care to recommend a reliable version if,
in fact, these things are really necessary?
 
Okay, I just saw the discussion from 3/27/08. That's good enough for me.
