Registry login problem...

I recently removed the Windows SA (Search Assisstant)
spyware from my computer, and now I can't login.
Whenever I do I type in my password, it goes to the
desktop for one-tenth of a second, and then I get logged
out again. Back to the welcome screen. I was looking on
the net and someone had said something about this
specific spyware attatches itself to some registry entry,
and that by editing the registry from the Recovery
Console I could fix the problem. Right now I can't login
and all I know how to do in the Recovery console is,
well, sit there and stare at C:\WINDOWS. Does anyone
know how to fix this? Or how to edit the registry in the
Recovery Console? I am running XP Home, and would
appreciate any good ideas as to how to fix this..
Someone also mentioned editing the registry over a
network, but I am not on a network, so that rules out
that fix...

Anyone got any good ideas?

There are no tools in XP that will allow you to edit the Registry from the Recovery Console. You can copy and delete files, but the command line version of Regedit does not work in Recovery Console.

You may want to check out a program called Bart's PE. With it, you can create a bootable CD that will allow you access to the system disk and the Registry.
