Hi!
I cant delete some registry keys, cause i dont have the permissions
to change my permissions, although i am administrator.
What can i do to change the permissions?
I dont have either read nor write access for it.
I tried already to change the permissions, but it keeps saying i dont
have the permissions to change it.
My system is a windows xp professional
Thx

Right Click the Parent or Top Level key in the Left Pane. From the
Context menu click Permissions, Click the Add button & type your
current Username in the box, then grant yourself Full Control in the
Permissions table. Afterwards you should be able to delete the keys
and data. (Hopefully you have a backup or opt to Export the keys
before deleting)

Take ownership of the keys before granting full access.

Some keys are set this way to prevent you from viewing them. For example,
the SAM and Security should not be edited and definitely not deleted
(delete it, and you'll have to format reinstall Windows).

Those keys are also where your saved passwords and CryptoAPI data are
stored. Only the System should need to read these.

Hi!
Thx for the answer, but this i tried also long ago...
It says me it found errors executing the recursive permissions changes.
The registry is corrupted i fear, i cant even export the key.
The registry cleaners i tried didnt also recognize this error
(maybe cause they cant read it).
Any idea how i could change it with brute force?
Thx for the answer

Perhaps it would help if you could describe which keys or hive
of the Registry you're trying to modify. If it's recursive issues, did
you try removing from the lowest level and moving upward in the
Registry tree path ?
I don't want to re-ignite the Registry Cleaner thread again, but
they (Registry Cleaners) aren't as beneficial as many people think.
If your Registry is corrupted is System Restore a possible fix or
do you use Imaging and have a pre-issue save set you can restore
to ?
