Registry editing disabled

I keep getting the message "Registry editing has been
disabled by your administrator." This is my own computer.
I am the only one who uses it. In my user account I have
checked both my name and administrator. I need to edit the
registry. How can I enable it? (Windows XP home edition.)

See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Disable/Enable Task Manager.

This behavior is indicative of some type of malware infection. Update your antivirus software and rescan your system, preferably from Safe Mode (See Help and Support).

Additionally, check out utilities like Spybot Search and Destroy (www.safer-networking.org) and AdAware (www.lavasoftusa.com). With both of these utilities, check for updates, even though you just downloaded it.
