Registry Edit/ Internet Explorer

Recently the home page on my Int.Exp. has been changed
without my consent whilst I was viewing the web using
internet explorer. It has been changed to a page called
about:search a search engine of some type.
I am unable to change the home page the conventional way
and can not access registry edit to do it that way as i
am told that registry editing has been disabled by the
administrator. I am the administrator and have never set
the computer to disable registry editing.Neither Norton
or spibot pick up any viruses etc.
Does anyone konw of a way round this any help would be
most appreciated.
All the best
