I'm looking for a Microsoft tool that will clean and
reindex my XP registery. I have found third party tools
but would rather use one from Microsoft. Does anyone
know of a Microsoft utility?

I use System Mechanic (www.iolo.com) and it works
great with Windows XP. You can try it out free for
thirty days.

Microsoft does not offer a registry cleaner for Windows XP.

If you go to majorgeeks.com they have lots of registry
cleaners. I found one that works very well for XP.The
WinnerTweakRegistryCleanerForXP. This is not a microsoft
product but it works well. It cleaned hundreds of bits of
junk from my computer and I have seen an improvement in
performance and so far no negative effects. This program
has the option to create a backup of your registry for
you.which is always a good idea before making any changes
to your reg. just in case you remove something that you
shouldn't. And best of all it's free. You should check
out majorgeeks.
